In 2016 the matriarch of the Toronto Zoo’s gorilla troop was having difficulty walking and the veterinarians were concerned that they might have to put her down. They turned to Dr. Mandelbaum who was able to operate and extend her life by another five years. Please read in his own words how this amazing event came to take place.
