LUMPS AND BUMPS
Dr. Mandelbaum regularly performs many procedures under local anesthetic at Scarborough General Hospital. These procedures include biopsies, removal of cysts, lipomas, foreign bodies, moles, infected stitches and other superficial lesions.
No general sedation can be given for these procedures due to hospital regulations.
Under current rules physicians in Ontario are authorized to bill patients directly for some of these procedures under certain circumstances.
Dr. Mandelbaum does not charge for these procedures.
Dr. Mandelbaum will give you a follow up appointment at the time of the procedure.
LIPOMAS
A lipoma is a fatty tumor located just below the skin. It isn't cancer and is usually harmless. A lipoma is a slow-growing, fatty lump that's most often situated between your skin and the underlying muscle layer. A lipoma, which feels doughy and usually isn't tender, moves readily with slight finger pressure.

SEBACEOUS CYSTS
Sebaceous cysts are common noncancerous cysts of the skin. Cysts are abnormalities in the body that may contain liquid or semiliquid material. Sebaceous cysts are mostly found on the face, neck, or torso. They grow slowly and aren't life-threatening, but they may become uncomfortable if they go unchecked.
